「めいとこねこバス」 (Mei and the Kittenbus)
A sequel to My Neighbour Totoro, this animated short is only shown at the Mitaka Ghibli Museum in the suburbs of Tokyo. I had the absolute worst luck trying to visit said museum (tickets can only be purchased in advance, only from selected convenience stores, only for selected time slots - and the one time I arrived with a ticket, the woman at the counter told us that we’d somehow been sold admission to the Ghibli Art Museum and abjectly refused us entry), though I was eventually successful on my third attempt. Coincidentally, that was the same day I discovered that the movies are actually on rotation and that Mei wouldn’t be shown again for another 4 months. I did manage to see「コロの大さんぽ」(Koro’s Big Walk) - which, was adorable - but one day, I really would like to see that Kittenbus.
(As it happens, it’s actually running right now until the 30th of June, so if you’re in Tokyo and happen to catch it, please let me know how it was!)
